FAQs

Where do the sessions take place?

1

The sessions will occur outdoors using community spaces in West Seattle, such as parks (Lincoln Park and/or Fauntleroy Park) or playgrounds. We will discuss the location based on the child’s needs. We will be prepared to play in all kinds of weather!!!

How long are the sessions? And where do we meet?

2

Individual sessions are offered in a package of 10 sessions, providing your child with weekly 60-minute sessions. At the end of the 10 sessions, we will discuss the child’s progress and the changes you have seen in your daily life to determine if additional sessions are necessary.

The meeting point will be decided during the intake process and/or after the first session.

Group sessions are offered in a package of 12 sessions, providing your child with weekly 90-minute sessions.

Can parents/caregivers, as well as siblings, participate in the sessions?

3

During individual sessions, the team is composed of the child, the parent or caregiver, and the therapist. Siblings are welcome to attend if we both agree it benefits our sessions.

Group Sessions- Our program is intended for children who are ready for a group therapy model, so we generally don’t have parents join our group services. (Individual OT sessions may be a good option if your child is not ready for group quite yet.)

The philosophy of our groups is to be child-led and encourage children’s independence. We intentionally staff with a very high adult-to-child ratio to provide support for children in our groups. We’ve found that having more adults present really impacts all the children’s tendencies to play independently.

Another reason for this policy is that it provides consistency in service provision across all families with children in our group therapy model.

What is the process to start?

4

The first step is to book a discovery call to see if we are a good fit for each other.

The second step will be to fill out the intake form and apply for the OT initial assessment if needed; if not, apply for the individual sessions or the group sessions.

If your child has completed an Occupational Therapy Assessment within 12 months, I will use that assessment to inform goal setting for the treatment sessions.

What are the fees?

5

Wildroot services are cash-based and do not accept insurance as payment. We can provide a superbill each month that you can submit to your health insurance provider for reimbursement. Since each insurance provider is different, we highly recommend contacting your provider for additional information regarding reimbursement rates for out-of-network services.

What if I need to cancel?

6

We know kids get sick and life happens.
For individual sessions- Let us know and we'll work with your child's therapist to find a make-up time on the WildroOT calendar
.
For Group sessions- We offer a make-up sessions at the end of the 12-week session (packet)

Due to our group model and the importance of consistent attendance for group therapy, we do not reimburse for missed visits.

Do you cancel sessions if it is rainy or cold?

7

We love outdoor play in all weather and hold sessions rain or shine! Sessions are canceled only for hazardous conditions like national weather advisories (e.g., high winds, hail), poor air quality.
