WILDROOT OT GROUPS

Big social-emotional growth happens through connection, friendship, and shared experiences — that’s the power of a group!

I am excited to begin offering small-group nature-based occupational therapy sessions for children 3-12 years old beginning in January 2027.

Groups will be 12 weeks long and intentionally kept small, with a maximum of 4 children per group, allowing for meaningful connection, individualized support, and opportunities to build skills through play and exploration in nature.

Rather than setting group days and times in advance, I will first gather interest and learn more about each child’s needs, strengths, and goals. As interest comes in, I will create groups that are a good match for the children participating.

This approach allows me to thoughtfully consider age, developmental needs, sensory preferences, social goals, and occupational therapy goals when forming each group.

How It Works

When completing the intake form, you’ll be able to select your top three preferred days/times within the available afternoon window.

Once I have received enough interest, I’ll reach out with the proposed group day, time, location, and group composition.

My goal is to create small groups where children can feel comfortable, connected, and supported while developing skills through movement, play, sensory experiences, social interaction, and exploration of the natural environment.

Wild Trailblazers

Therapy groups designed with intention, connection, and your child in mind.

Celebrating Individuality While Building Skills for Connection

Every child is unique, with their own strengths, personality, and way of experiencing the world. At WildroOT, we celebrate each child for who they are while supporting them to build confidence, connect with others, and develop the skills they need to thrive in classrooms, friendships, teams, and everyday life.

We create space for children to take brave steps, try new things, and grow through challenges — always with support, encouragement, and plenty of room to be themselves.

Small Groups. Big Opportunities.

With small group sizes and specially trained, nature-based OTs, we’re able to create an environment where kids can:

  • Engage at their own pace and participate in ways that feel comfortable.

  • Learn from one another without the overwhelm of a large group.

  • Practice problem-solving and emotional regulation through real-life social experiences.

  • Take risks, make mistakes, and try again with support and encouragement.

  • Communicate and connect in different ways, honoring each child’s preferences and unique way of being.

  • Look beneath challenging behaviors to understand what a child may be communicating or needing.

  • Adapt in the moment to meet the needs of the group and each individual child.

A WildroOT Group Might Be a Good Fit if Your Child is Struggling to:

Navigate conflicts.

Your child may become upset when things do not go as expected or when another child behaves in a way they find upsetting.

Try new activities confidently.

Your child may feel shy or unsure in group settings or when trying something new or unfamiliar.

Play cooperatively with peers.

Your child may prefer playing independently, want to choose the game or activity, or find it challenging to play cooperatively with others.

Regulate their emotions and sensory responses.

Your child may sometimes feel overwhelmed or find it challenging to manage their emotions and behavior in group settings.

Control impulses and respect personal space.

Your child may find it challenging to wait for their turn, manage their body, or give others the personal space they need.

Share their ideas.

Your child may find it challenging to express their ideas or accept other ideas during play.

Here’s what you can look forward to when you join one of our groups!

Weekly 90-Minute Outdoor Group

There’s plenty of fun, laughter, and adventure—but there’s also so much meaningful growth happening along the way! Each group is led by a certified nature-based pediatric OT and thoughtfully designed around the unique interests, needs, and goals of the children in the group. Every session follows a personalized treatment plan, blending outdoor play with therapeutic support to help each child build skills, confidence, and connection.

Weekly Group Recaps

You’ll receive updates from your therapist about what your child worked on during group, along with simple resources and ideas to help carry those skills into everyday life at home.

Initial Occupational Therapy Group Assessment

We will get to know your child’s strengths, interests, and areas where they may need support through our intake process and an initial observation at their first group. Your therapist will use this information to create a personalized treatment plan that supports your child’s unique needs and goals.

‍ ‍Parent Consultations

You’ll have dedicated time with your therapist at the beginning and end of each semester to connect, share updates, and talk through your child’s progress. Together, you’ll find practical strategies to help your child carry the skills they’re building in therapy into everyday life.

Personalized Goal Setting

You will have 1:1 time with your therapist to talk through the assessment and choose a meaningful goal for your child. Your therapist will then thoughtfully plan group activities around the skills that matter most to your family.

Progress Report

You will get a written progress report halfway and at the end of the sessions so you clearly see your child’s progress on their goals.

Guided by

Connection

Children thrive when therapy includes not just a therapist, but also trusted caregivers or peers. That’s why we intentionally involve family and friends in sessions. Their presence makes therapy more engaging, joyful, and most importantly, helps new skills carry over into everyday life.

The ConTIGO Approach

All WildroOT therapists are Certified Nature-Based Pediatric Therapists™ with advanced training and ongoing mentoring in the ConTiGO (Connection & Transformation in the Great Outdoors) Approach™ - an evidence-based framework for best practice in pediatric nature-based therapy, developed by, Dr. Laura Park Figueroa.

Transformation

Our evidence-based, nature-centered approach helps children make meaningful progress more quickly. By partnering with both nature and YOU, our therapists support your child in building real-life skills that matter—making everyday routines smoother and family life more joyful.

In the Great outdoors

Spending time outdoors boosts mood, focus, and overall well-being—making therapy feel less clinical and more like everyday life. Our natural setting removes the stigma and replaces it with joy, curiosity, and movement. Outside, children are inspired to explore, challenge their bodies, express creativity, and most importantly—have fun while building real-life skills.
